Today, Sekolah Rendah Sultan Hassan Bangar played host to the 1st District Level Spelling Competition 2009. It was open to all primary schools in Temburong District. 11 goverment primary schools participated in the competition. 3 pupils of Year 4 until Year 6 represent their school. The competition consist of 3 rounds.
Participated schools arrived as early as 7.30 in the morning, the pupils were to be confined in the Sekolah Rendah Sultan Hassan Bangar's library. Once all the pupils from each of the participating school arrived, they were brief about the rules of the competition. The pupils will be organised according to their numbers which they were ask to pick out after the briefing.
The event began with the rectiation of Surah Al-Faatihah by Ustaz Haji Asman Bin Haji Timbang of Sekolah Rendah Sultan Hassan Bangar. The guest of honor for today event was, Cikgu Ismail Bin Haji Tia, Acting Pegawai Pelajaran Kanan Daerah Temburong. The chairperson for today's event, Cikgu Hajah Habibah Binti Haji Mohd. Umar, Headmistress of Sekolah Rendah Semabat, deliver her welcome speech.
While waiting for the prize presentation, there was a fantastic performance from Preschool pupils of Sekolah Rendah Sultan Hassan Bangar which was organised by Mr. Alex Theuma, EPPS Teacher.
The winner of the 1st District Level Spelling Competition goes to Dayang Norfauziana Anak Buau of Sekolah Rendah Amo. Second place winner goes to Awang Kamal Hasif Danial Shah Bin Taip from Sekolah Rendah Amo and the third place goes to Nashrin Anak Belia of Sekolah Rendah Semabat. These three winners will be representing Temburong Zone for the Final Competition. The award presentation was given by Cikgu Ismail Bin Haji Tia.
